Peter Ireland is the Murray and Monti Professor of Economics at Boston College, where he teaches courses on macroeconomics and financial economics for undergraduates and doctoral students. His writing and research focus on monetary policy and its effects on the economy. Before joining the faculty at Boston College in 1998, Ireland held a teaching position at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey and worked as a research economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond in Virginia. He received undergraduate and graduate degrees in economics from the University of Chicago.
