Center for Financial Stability Privacy Policy

The Center for Financial Stability (“CFS”) is committed to protecting your privacy. Please read this Privacy Policy, as well as our Website Terms of Use, for more details about how we use information you submit to this web site located at http://www.centerforfinancialstability.org (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy, together with the Website Terms of Use, constitute the entire agreement between you and CFS relating to this Site. By your use of the Site, you consent to be governed by this Privacy Policy.

We reserve the right, at our discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions of this Privacy Policy at any time. Your continued use of the Site following reasonable notice of such modifications will be conclusively deemed acceptance of any changes to this Privacy Policy. You agree that notice of changes to the Privacy Policy posted on the Site constitutes reasonable and sufficient notice. At all times, you are bound by the then-current version of the Privacy Policy and all applicable laws. We highly recommend that you review this privacy Policy from time to time to ensure that you are familiar with the most recent version.

Personal Information Provided by You

CFS only collects your personally identifiable information (“Personal Information”) through this Site when you choose to provide such information or as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy does not address personal information that you provide to us in other contexts (e.g., through a business relationship not handled through the Site). Personal Information can include your name, address, telephone number, and/or email address. CFS uses your Personal Information to address your requests for information, products or services, and may use it at some point in the future to fulfill business transactions. CFS will not sell, rent, license, or trade your Personal Information with third parties for their own direct marketing use unless you give us general or specific consent to do so. Any change to this Privacy Policy that materially affects your rights to your Personal Information will not take effect until 30 days after notice of such change is posted on the Site, during which time you may notify us that you do not accept such change. Your continued use of the Site after such 30 day period will mean that you accept such changes.

CFS may disclose Personal Information in connection with conducting audits, responding to legal and/or regulatory requirements, enforcing CFS’ policies, or in responding to complaints or safety or security concerns. CFS may also share your Personal Information with: (a) members of CFS’ corporate family and any successors; (b) other companies or organizations that work with, or on behalf of CFS to provide products and services; (c) law enforcement or other governmental officials, in response to a verified request relating to a criminal investigation or alleged illegal activity; and/or (d) other business entities, in connection with the sale, assignment, merger or other transfer of CFS’ business to such business entity. CFS will disclose Personal Information in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Automatically Collected Information and Anonymous Information

Each time a visitor comes to the Site, CFS collects some information to improve the overall quality of the visitor’s online experience, including product/service monitoring, product/service improvement, and targeted advertising. Such information may include referral data (e.g., the address of the last URL a user visited prior to clicking through to the Site) and your web browser and operating platform type.

  1. Aggregated Data: In addition to collecting these types of information, CFS collects aggregate queries for internal reporting and targeted advertising. CFS also counts, tracks, and aggregates the visitor's activity into CFS’ analysis of general traffic flow at the Site. To these ends, CFS may merge information about you into aggregated group data and other databases. In some cases, CFS may remove personal identifiers from Personal Information and maintain it in aggregate form that may later be combined with other information to generate anonymous, aggregated statistical information. Such anonymous, group data may be shared on an aggregated basis with CFS’ affiliates, business partners, service providers and/or vendors; if it does so, CFS will not disclose your individual identity (except as permitted under this Privacy Policy).
  2. Web Server Logs and IP Addresses: An Internet Protocol (“IP”) address is a number that automatically identifies the computer/machine you have used to access the Internet. The IP address enables our server to send you the webpages that you want to visit, and it may disclose the server owned by your Internet Service Provider. CFS may use IP addresses to conduct Site analyses and performance reviews and to administer the Site.
  3. Cookies and Web Beacons: Cookies are pieces of information that a web site transfers to a user’s computer for purposes of storing information about a user’s preferences. Cookies in and of themselves do not personally identify users, although they do identify a user’s computer. Many web sites use cookies as a standard practice to provide useful features when a user visits the site and most web browsers are set up to accept cookies. CFS uses cookies to improve your online experience when visiting the Site. Some third-party advertisers may use their own cookies. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, but some portions of the Site may not work properly if you refuse cookies.

Some of Site’s web pages may use web beacons in conjunction with cookies to compile aggregate statistics about Site usage. A web beacon is an electronic image (also referred to as an “action tag,” “single-pixel,” or “clear GIF”) that is commonly used to track the traffic patterns of users from one web page to another in order to maximize web traffic flow and to otherwise analyze the effectiveness of web sites. Some web beacons may be unusable if you elect to reject their associated cookies.

The Site contains links to third party web sites that may offer information of interest. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those web sites, and CFS recommends reviewing those web sites’ privacy policies individually. As discussed in CFS’ Website Terms of Use, CFS is not responsible for the content at these third party sites.

Security

CFS has established reasonable precautions to protect collected Personal Information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction, which include contractual, administrative, physical, and technical steps. Technical measures include use of firewall protection and in some instances may include encryption technology. Although CFS takes reasonable precautions to assess the reliability of such technology, it relies on the statements of the vendors of those products and services as part of its security evaluation. Please note that although CFS has endeavored to create a secure and reliable Site for users, the confidentiality of any communication or material transmitted to/from the Site cannot be guaranteed.

CFS urges you to take every precaution to protect your personal data when you are on the Internet.
