Robin Lumsdaine

Robin Lumsdaine is the Crown
Prince of Bahrain Professor of International Finance at American University’s
Kogod School of Business and a Research Associate of the National Bureau
of Economic Research. She was previously an Associate Director
and Head of the Quantitative Risk Management Group in the Division of
Banking Supervision and Regulation at the Board of Governors of the
Federal Reserve System. During that time, she represented the
Board in numerous interagency and international negotiations related
to Basel II and led the Fed’s efforts on the summary report of the
Fourth Quantitative Impact Study (QIS4). She was also the Board’s
representative to the Basel Committee on Bank Supervision’s Risk Management
and Modeling Group.
Before joining the Board, Professor
Lumsdaine was a Director in the Global Markets Research division of
Deutsche Bank where she held a number of positions, including Global
Inflation-Linked Bond Strategist, Head of Quantitative Flow Research,
and Global Econometric Strategist. She has also served as Professor
of Economics at Brown University, Senior Economist at the President’s
Council of Economic Advisers, and Assistant Professor of Economics at
Princeton University.
Lumsdaine’s expertise includes
a variety of topics affecting global financial markets, including the
recent financial crisis, risk management, banking and capital regulations,
sovereign debt, population aging and healthcare. She has published
in numerous academic journals including Econometrica, Journal
of Financial Economics, and Review of Economic Studies.
Professor Lumsdaine holds a
Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University and a Sc.B. in mathematics
from Brown University.
